Dr. Sukesh Bhatia

Seasoned Internist & Debut Author

Dr. Sukesh Bhatia is a seasoned internist with over three decades of experience in medicine. His foray into writing was sparked during the COVID-19 pandemic, when lockdowns and social distancing measures limited his interactions with patients.

He channelled this period of relative calm into a new creative pursuit — writing. From the quiet of a clinic to the craft of storytelling, Dr. Bhatia brings the same precision and empathy he gives his patients to every page of this book.

Freedom in the Cage marks his literary debut, shaped by decades of observing the human condition — its struggles, its silences, and its quiet awakenings.

Prof. R. K. Sharma

Distinguished Educator & Lifelong Mentor

With a distinguished teaching career spanning nearly five decades, Prof. R. K. Sharma hails from a prominent family of educationists in Amritsar. He began his journey as a Government College lecturer, shaping the minds and moral compasses of generations of students.

His affinity for the hills and natural surroundings soon drew him to Mussoorie, the Queen of Hills, where he taught at several top residential educational institutions, living a life devoted to knowledge and the written word.

Now in his retirement, Prof. Sharma continues to share his passion by teaching Shakespeare's plays online — a testament to his enduring belief that great stories never age.

Freedom in the Cage

A man rises from severe hardship to the height of professional success, believing he has overcome life's greatest trials. Yet achievement brings unexpected burdens — instead of admiration, he faces criticism and misunderstanding from those closest to him.

Applause turns into suspicion, leaving him emotionally isolated. As external relationships grow strained, his inner world deepens. Long-buried memories surface, making him more reflective and inward-looking.

The "cage" he inhabits is not physical, but forged from expectations, disappointments, and silent wounds. Rather than surrendering to resentment, he embraces unconditional love and forgiveness.

In the twilight of his life, in the innocent presence of his granddaughter Aadhya, he finds peace — and in that quiet, sacred connection, he attains true freedom, not by escaping life's confines, but by transcending them.

The greatest cage is the one you cannot see.

True freedom is not escape — it is transcendence.

In a child's gaze, every wound finds its peace.
